The Senior Director of School Culture & Behavior Systems is responsible for the strategic design, implementation, and continuous improvement of district wide systems that promote positive school culture, student behavior, engagement, belonging, and safe, supportive learning environments.
This role leads a comprehensive, system-level approach to school culture and behavior that prioritizes prevention, restorative practices, student engagement, and equitable discipline systems.
The Senior Director ensures that school culture and behavior systems are fully integrated with MTSS, attendance initiatives, instructional priorities, and student support systems, and that all schools implement consistent, data-driven practices that improve school climate and student outcomes.
This position serves as the district's lead for school culture, behavior frameworks, and student engagement through climate and belonging systems, ensuring that school environments support learning, connection, and student success.
The Senior Director is also responsible for leading district wide efforts related to restorative practices, behavior intervention systems, student belonging, and positive school climate initiatives.
Certification Requirements (NJDOE-Aligned)In accordance with N.J.A.C. 6A:9B (as applicable)
- Master's Degree from an accredited college or university
- Required criminal history background check, physical and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status
- A valid driver's license or state issued , valid insurance and registration
- Master's Degree in education, social work, public administration, or related field
- Experience in family engagement, community outreach, or school leadership

- Minimum:
Five (5) years of experience in school leadership, student services, behavior systems, or related field - Three (3) years of leadership experience managing teams or programs
- Demonstrated expertise in:
- School culture and climate systems
- Behavior frameworks (PBIS, restorative practices, trauma-informed approaches)
- Student discipline systems and reform
- Student engagement and belonging strategies
- Strong knowledge of:
- MTSS frameworks and behavioral interventions
- Discipline policies and regulatory requirements
- School climate improvement strategies
- Ability to:
- Coach school leaders and support teams
- Build systems that improve student engagement and belonging
Lead the design and implementation of a coherent district wide culture and behavior framework.
- Establish clear expectations for school culture and student behavior
- Develop systems that promote safe, predictable, and engaging learning environments
- Ensure consistency and fidelity across all schools
- Align culture systems with district priorities and School Stat processes
Oversee implementation of equitable, proactive behavior systems.
- Lead district implementation of PBIS, restorative practices, and trauma-informed approaches
- Ensure discipline practices are consistent, equitable, and student-centered

- Support schools in shifting from reactive to proactive behavior management

Ensure behavior and culture systems are embedded within tiered support frameworks.

Provide direct support to school leaders and leadership teams.
