Manager of Alternative Education and Student Re-Engagement Programs

Position Summary

The Manager of Alternative Education & Student Re-Engagement Programs is responsible for the day-to-day implementation, coordination, and performance monitoring of district alternative education programs. This role ensures that alternative education pathways are executed with fidelity, consistency, and measurable impact on student attendance, engagement, and credit attainment. The Manager serves as the primary operational lead, supporting schools, staff, and students by ensuring that programs are functioning effectively, students are progressing toward graduation, and systems are responsive to real‑time needs.

This position translates strategy into execution and ensures that alternative education is a high‑functioning, outcomes‑driven system, not a fragmented set of programs.

• Bachelor's Degree
• Required criminal history background check, physical and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status
• A valid driver's license or state issued , valid insurance and registration

• Master's Degree preferred
• New Jersey instructional or administrative certification preferred (not required)
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in Education, student services, or program coordination
• Demonstrated experience working with at‑risk or non‑traditional student populations
• Strong knowledge of credit tracking and graduation requirements; student information systems and reporting; attendance and engagement strategies

  • Support operation of re‑engagement and dropout recovery initiatives

  • Monitor program implementation across sites
  • Ensure consistency, quality, and fidelity
• Student Tracking & Credit Monitoring (OWNER)
  • Monitor credit accumulation, course completion, and graduation progress
  • Coordinate with counselors and schools to maintain accurate records
  • Ensure timely updates in student information systems
• Attendance & Engagement Monitoring (OWNER)
  • Track attendance trends
  • Identify students at risk of disengagement
  • Coordinate interventions with schools and support teams
  • Ensure alignment with district attendance strategies
• School Support & Program Coordination (OWNER)
  • Provide technical assistance to principals, counselors, and teachers
  • Support student placement and transitions
  • Address day-to-day challenges and barriers
• Data Monitoring & Performance Reporting (OWNER)
  • Track key performance indicators: attendance, credit attainment, course completion, re‑engagement rates
  • Prepare reports and dashboards for leadership
  • Identify trends and recommend improvements
• Compliance & Documentation (OWNER)
  • Maintain accurate student records and transcripts
  • Ensure compliance with district policies and NJDOE regulations
  • Support documentation for external placements (e.g., JJC/JDC)
• Operational Coordination (OWNER)
  • Coordinate scheduling, staffing alignment, and materials and resources
  • Identify operational challenges and implement solutions
• Partnerships & External Coordination (OWNER)
  • Assist with partnerships with community organizations, nonprofits, and postsecondary and workforce partners
  • Ensure services are aligned to student needs
• Cross-System Alignment (NES Integration)
  • Coordinate with Counseling & Student Services, MTSS & Intervention, Attendance & Engagement, Data & Accountability
  • Ensure a unified approach to student support
• Support ongoing improvement of alternative education systems by identifying gaps and inefficiencies, recommending improvements, and supporting implementation of changes
