POSITION SUMMARY:
The YMCA of Southern Nevada is looking for a Senior Director of Youth Academic Impact to join our team. Under the direction of the Vice President of Youth Development, the Senior Director provides leadership and strategic direction for the YMCA's academic intervention programs and after school sites. This position provides oversight to Youth Development operations including:
Before and After School programs Academic Intervention & Power Scholars Academy 21st Century and CCSD partnerships Character development and youth mental wellness initiatives Youth Protection and Safety & Risk Management Out-of-School-Time Program Expansion The Senior Director of Youth Academic Impact directly supervises and is responsible for program quality, financial sustainability, and risk management. Success is measured by expanded access, improved academic and social-emotional outcomes, and sustainable grant management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Leadership & Impact Expands school-age programming to increase access within underserved communities. Strengthens academic outcomes through sustainable academic intervention models. Integrates character development and youth mental wellness practices across all programs. Operational Excellence & Financial Sustainability Provides direct supervision and coaching to three or more Site Coordinators. Ensures consistent program standards including the YPQA (Youth Program Quality Assessment), curriculum alignment, pricing models, and staffing structures across all sites.
Ensures compliance with 21st Century grant funding, CCSD agreements, and YMCA standards. Ensures facilities, equipment, and program environments meet high safety and quality standards. Oversees grant development, compliance, reporting, and renewal. Serves as the primary point of contact for parent and child de-escalation conversations and behavior intervention, utilizing trauma-informed and developmentally appropriate behavior management strategies. Leadership Development Builds leadership bench strength and succession plans.
Aligns staffing structures with strategic priorities. Establishes clear accountability, evaluation systems, and coaching practices. Strengthens recruitment and retention strategies for school-age staff. Trains staff in instruction, SEL, trauma-informed care, and de-escalation. Community Engagement & Partnerships Serves as a liaison to CCSD and education partners. Represents the YMCA in community coalitions related to youth, education, and family wellbeing. Risk Management & Safety Ensures full compliance with youth protection policies and mandated reporting.
Oversees safety audits and corrective action plans. Maintains Praesidium standards and a culture of proactive risk management. Academic Intervention and Student Success Designs interventions to close literacy, math, and core content skill gaps. Uses assessment data to track progress and improve outcomes. Applies MTSS/RTI to align academic, behavioral, and SEL supports. ABUSE RISK MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONS:
Adheres to policies related to boundaries with children. Attends required abuse risk management training. Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations. Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements. Adheres to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities. Follows employees and volunteers screening requirements and use screening instruments to screen for abuse risk. Provides employees and volunteers with on-going supervision and training related to abuse risk.
Provides employees and volunteers with regular feedback regarding their boundaries with youth. Requires employees and volunteers to adhere to policies and procedures related to abuse Responds quickly to policy and procedure violations using the organization's progressive disciplinary procedures. Responds seriously and confidentially to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors. Communicates to employees and volunteers the organization's commitment to protect their consumers from abuse.
Reports essential abuse risk management information to their supervisor, executive director, or human resources.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
