The Teen Specialist is responsible for overseeing all teen programs at their assigned School Site(s). This includes planning, development, reporting, and implementation of these programs in collaboration with the Programs team. The Teen Specialist also assists with other operational functions of the Clubhouse and may serve as acting Clubhouse supervisor in the absence of the Clubhouse Director and Assistant Clubhouse Director.

The essential job duties for this role include:

Program Management
  • Plan, create, and oversee the administration of Academic Success and assigned programs and activities and assigned programs that support Youth Development Outcomes:
    • Establish Academic Success program objectives through collaboration with the Programs team that align with organizational goals and mission.
    • Oversee the provision of day-to-day program activities in accordance with established standards and goals.
    • Maintain grant compliance of all Academic Success and assigned grant programming.
    • Ensure members are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas/activities and receive respect, recognition, instruction, and constructive feedback to develop skills in all program areas.
    • Demonstrate leadership in relation to members, parents/guardians, Youth Development Professionals, and visitor conduct and safety to ensure a proper environment for member development.
  • Evaluate all Academic Success programs on a continual basis to ensure all programming addresses the gender and cultural diversity of members.
  • Ensure program requirements are fulfilled, deadlines are met, documentation is completed, and required program metrics are tracked. Ensure Clubhouse staff and members understand the programs at the Clubhouse.
  • Serve as a mentor/role model for members. Provide direction to members by establishing and enforcing standards, expectations, and consequences for inappropriate behavior per organizational guidelines. Apply corrective action that is fair, consistent, and age appropriate. Provide written documentation and support when necessary for conduct/behavior issues and may consult parents/guardians with the approval of Clubhouse leadership.
  • Promote and communicate programs, activities, events, and field trips to members and families.
  • Assist Club staff in the retention and recruitment of members through outreach efforts.
  • Oversee and assist with the cleanliness and safe operation of Clubhouse areas and help other staff with the cleanliness and safe operation of the Clubhouse and grounds as needed.
  • Work cohesively with Club staff to foster a positive environment for staff and members. Assist and participate in all aspects of the Clubhouse, including other program areas, other programs, or other scheduled duties as assigned.
Pay: $19.00/ Hour Other Duties
  • Assist, implement, plan, or participate in BGCSNV special events as required.
  • Enforce and abide by Clubhouse rules, organization policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Provide attention and direction to special needs children as required.
  • Drive Club vans periodically.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and bearing reflective of the high standards of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada.
  • Assist at other Clubhouse locations when needed.
  • Occasionally work irregular or extended hours.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization working with youth in an education and/or art setting.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft and/or Google suite of productivity applications (Word, Excel, Forms, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to deal effectively with multi-age groups of children, small groups of children in activities and free play, and large groups of children in organized activities.
  • Ability to meet deadlines with time constraints and handle multiple demands.
  • Strong interpersonal and team leadership skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally with the public, families, Youth Development Professionals, and members.
  • Demonstrated ability to take responsibility for the safety, well-being, and output of others.
