Assistant Professor-In-Residence, Psychology (Children's Mental Health)

The Department of Psychology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track teaching faculty member (Assistant Professor in Residence) to begin Fall, 2027. A primary responsibility for this position is the development and instruction of undergraduate courses in children's mental health (a B.S. program in Children's Behavioral Health Psychology has recently been developed and approved).

This new program will offer courses that cover topics such as youth assessment, health promotion practices, addictions, targeted intervention practices, professional development and ethics, and inclusive practices. This position also involves teaching foundational and upper-division courses, including capstone. Career advancement is available with evidence of continued professional development and service contributions. The Department seeks individuals who are committed to fostering an environment in which faculty, staff, and students from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and personal experiences are welcomed and can thrive.

Further, the Department seeks dynamic and enthusiastic individuals with a Ph.D. in psychology or related discipline, a commitment to undergraduate education, substantial teaching experience (including online teaching), and a willingness to work with a program coordinator for purposes of assessment and quality control.

The Department has 40 full-time faculty members, a B.A. program in Psychology, a B.S. program in Neuroscience, a B.S. program in Children's Behavioral Health Psychology, an APA-accredited Ph.D. program in Clinical Psychology, a Ph.D. program in Psychological and Brain Sciences with cognitive, developmental, and quantitative/social/community areas of study, and is affiliated with a campus-wide interdisciplinary Neuroscience Ph.D. program.

This position requires a Ph.D. in psychology or related discipline from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and substantial teaching experience. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date. ABD candidates will be considered. Candidate must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
