Role SummaryThe Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine invites applications for faculty positions at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in the Department of Medical Education, with a focus in Anatomy. Candidates are expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching, commitment to a dynamic learner‑centered undergraduate medical education program, and ability to contribute to curriculum, scholarship, and service.
Teaching & Instruction- Dedicate approximately 80% of time to medical education, primarily supporting delivery of the Phase 1 curriculum with additional involvement in Phase 2 electives and Phase 3 as needed.
- Provide instruction in human anatomy through interactive lectures, small‑group sessions, prosections, dissections, plastinated specimens, plastic models, virtual dissection platforms, and medical imaging.
- Facilitate multimodal learning experiences, including team‑based learning, case‑based learning, interactive classroom activities, and both dissection‑based and virtual laboratory instruction.
- Teach an additional discipline beyond the primary specialty as required to meet curricular needs.
- Supervise and evaluate medical student performance across educational activities.
- Collaborate to integrate basic science, anatomical studies, clinical reasoning, Problem‑Based Learning (PBL), and clinical skills learning objectives across the curriculum.
- Contribute to curriculum design, mapping, assessment, and continuous quality improvement.
- Collaborate with faculty across departments to support longitudinal integration of foundational and clinical concepts.
- Promote self‑directed learning, clinical reasoning, and professional development.
- Allocate approximately 10% of efforts toward scholarly activity related to the primary discipline, medical education, or both.
- Maintain an active scholarly profile appropriate to rank and track.
- Commit approximately 10% of time to departmental and institutional committees and service assignments.
- Fulfill administrative duties as negotiated with the Chair of the Department of Medical Education and the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs.
- Adhere to institutional policies and accreditation standards.
- PhD, MD, DO, or equivalent terminal degree.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and commitment to diversity.
- Familiarity with IFAA, AAA, AACA recommendations and the Uniform Anatomical Gift Act for ethical procurement and use of anatomical specimens and images.
- Experience developing and delivering components of a medical curriculum at an LCME‑accredited institution.
- Experience with modern teaching approaches, including PBL, simulation, and interactive group instruction.
- Experience with learning management systems (LMS) such as Canvas.
- Participation in national organizations related to medical education.
- Previous publications in the medical education or discipline‑relevant literature.
- Experience with grant development and extramural funding.
- Experience contributing to an integrated medical curriculum.
