Role of the PositionFull‑time, 9‑month, tenure‑track or tenured position at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The Program Director will serve as the accredited medical physics program director for the department’s CAMPEP‑accredited therapeutic medical physics programs (masters, certificate, PhD and doctor of medical physics). The position has access to on‑campus research facilities including high‑field (3T) clinical MR scanner and state‑of‑the‑art detection labs.
Primary Responsibilities- Provide guidance for all medical physics programs
- Serve as point of contact between UNLV and CAMPEP
- Act as advisor/mentor to medical physics students
- Participate in clinical site visits
- Participate in exams to evaluate clinical competency of students
- Participate in department seminars, giving presentations about clinical physics and job opportunities
- Participate in curriculum review
- Establish an active research program supported with extramural funding
- Teach in the department’s medical physics programs
- Fulfill service duties in accordance with university criteria
PhD or other doctoral degree in medical physics or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Certified in therapeutic medical physics by the American Board of Radiology, the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine, or another appropriate certifying agency. Minimum of five years of full‑time post‑graduate experience in the field.
