Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno South Area Extension is recruiting for a Community Based Instructor 3 for Clark County. This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. This position is located in Las Vegas, Nevada and focuses on the implementation of 4‑H programs specifically focused on Communications, the Expressive Arts (Visual Arts, Poetry, mixed media, etc.), as well as Civic Engagement and Leadership for youth ages 5‑19.
- Provide programming in various settings, including schools, community centers, public housing sites, day‑camp and overnight camp settings.
- Update and adapt curricula to meet audience needs; contribute to new curriculum development through feedback from observations and evaluations.
- Collaborate with 4‑H teams and volunteers.
- Coordinate program logistics; maintain records, prepare reports, purchase supplies; support volunteers through training and assistance; recruit volunteers; aid marketing efforts such as creating flyers and updating social media.
- Provide support to the 4‑H Teen Council, Advisory Board, and Leader’s Council as needed.
Extension’s signature youth program is the 4‑H Youth Development Program and Clubs, taking place in a variety of settings and populations, including schools, community centers, after‑school sites, churches, micro schools, home schools, foster care, juvenile justice, Nellis Air Force Base, public housing sites, low‑income housing sites, Upward Bound and Gear Up sites, and others.
Required Qualifications- Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three (3) years of relevant work experience in areas such as agriculture, horticulture, community development, health and nutrition, human and family development, and natural resources in urban and rural areas;
OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
A valid driver’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Applicants must complete a fingerprinting/background check.
Preferred QualificationsCandidates with experience working with school‑aged children (ages 9‑19); teaching experience for adult and child learners; and experience with 4‑H programs are encouraged to apply.

Compensation GradeGrade 27 (Entry, Step 01).
