Job DescriptionCSN is seeking part-time instructors to teach Criminal Justice courses, primarily in an on-ground format, with potential opportunities for online instruction. Teaching assignments will generally include introductory and core Criminal Justice courses, although instructors may be assigned to other program courses based on departmental needs. Classes may be scheduled during the morning, afternoon, or evening at any CSN campus, learning center, or satellite location.
CoreResponsibilities
- Teach a variety of Criminal Justice courses.
- Develop lesson plans, syllabi, and course materials in collaboration with the Department Chair and full-time faculty.
- Evaluate student mastery of program, course, and institutional learning outcomes.
- Participate in the development and implementation of formative and summative assessments.
- Attend required program meetings and trainings.
- Complete required course documentation, including grades, grade books, assessment forms, and distance education rubrics (if applicable), and submit materials to the department.
- Master's degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Administration of Justice, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
- Five (5) years of full-time professional experience in the criminal justice field.
- A Juris Doctor (JD) will be considered only if the candidate has passed the bar exam and possesses a minimum of five (5) years of full-time professional experience in criminal justice practice (e.g., prosecutor, public defender, judge with criminal case experience, or other relevant practitioner experience).
- College-level teaching experience in Criminal Justice or a related discipline.
- Experience using CANVAS or other learning management systems.
$925.00 per credit hour. Courses/Credits assigned may vary by semester. Applications will be considered on an as-needed basis determined by course availability.
