Part-Time Instructor, ABE Math - FY 2027

Adult Basic Education High School Equivalency (HSE) instructor position in the Division of Workforce and Economic Development at the College of Southern Nevada. Instructors prepare adult learners for the HSE exam and post‑secondary pursuits using classroom instruction, online learning, and career exploration.

• Teach Basic Skills, Pre‑HSE, and HSE preparation courses, with a focus on mathematics.
• Maintain accurate student records (syllabi, attendance, lesson plans).
• Motivate students to achieve educational goals beyond basic education.
• Collaborate with colleagues on course offerings and program enhancements.
• Attend professional development opportunities and staff meetings.
• Adhere to prescribed curriculum and standards.
• Use effective teaching techniques and assessment methods, including exams.
• Possess proficiency in Microsoft and Google Suites.
• Work effectively with a diverse population.
• Demonstrate strong time‑management, oral, and written communication skills.
• Show appreciation of, sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse academic environment.
• Experience in hybrid classroom online/in‑person instruction.
• Knowledge of educational technology and its use in classroom settings.
• Interpret and apply educational data to program standards and benchmarks.
• Monitor student progress using online programs such as TABE, CASAS, Aztec, and Work Keys student portals.

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, Literacy, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• Experience teaching basic through intermediate level math or high‑school equivalent testing preparation.

Salary: $23.00 – $30.00 hourly.

Program length:
Approximately 8‑10 weeks. Class schedule: 3‑4 days per week, 3 hours per class. Morning session: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Evening session: 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Locations may vary throughout the Las Vegas Valley.
