Role SummaryHead Teacher position at the UNLV/CSUN Preschool located in the Lynn Bennett Early Childhood Education Center. This role requires a deep understanding of how children learn across physical, social, emotional, cognitive, linguistic, and general learning domains. Teacher will design and implement play‑based learning environments, observe and assess children’s development, maintain emergency protocols, and collaborate with families and supervisors. The position also involves supporting future teachers, ensuring inclusive practices for diverse learners, and maintaining a safe, developmentally appropriate learning environment.
Responsibilities- Plan activities and curricular contributions that address all developmental domains.
- Observe children, use assessment tools, and implement learning strategies that advance competencies.
- Recognize and respond to children’s behavior, developmental and emotional needs.
- Design and maintain learning centers that encourage child‑initiated, play‑based learning.
- Set up the indoor and outdoor learning environment and implement schedules.
- Collaborate with supervisors and communicate with families about concerns and progress.
- Participate in parent‑teacher conferences to review assessment data.
- Adhere to plans for children with disabilities or special needs.
- Conduct emergency drills and maintain a safe learning environment.
- Work with children and families from diverse backgrounds and model inclusion and belonging.
- Provide support and mentorship for future teachers.
- Associate’s degree in education, early childhood education, or related field and at least two years of experience teaching children in a child‑care, pre‑school, or group setting; OR
High‑school diploma with three years of experience; OR
One year of experience as an Early Childhood Educator I in Nevada State service; OR
A combination of education and experience as described. - Preferred:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Early Childhood or related field and at least two years of experience.
Grade 29 Step 1, salary $50,153.76 (annual).
