Head Teacher position at the UNLV/CSUN Preschool located in the Lynn Bennett Early Childhood Education Center.
Responsibilities- Work knowledge of how children learn in each domain (physical, social, emotional, cognitive, linguistic, general learning competencies).
- Apply teaching strategies addressing all developmental domains in early childhood.
- Design learning centers to encourage play‑based learning.
- Use observation and assessment tools to collect information.
- Implement emergency protocols and ethical requirements.
- Plan activities and contribute to curriculum that addresses children’s learning across developmental domains.
- Recognize behavior, emotional distress and respond positively.
- Assist in design of learning center, set‑up environment and implement schedules to promote competencies.
- Collaborate with supervisors; communicate with families; participate in parent‑teacher conferences.
- Adhere to plans for children with disabilities or special needs.
- Practice emergency drills with children; implement a safe effective environment for learning.
- Work with children and families from diverse backgrounds; convey inclusion and belonging.
- Support experiences for future teachers.
- Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, early childhood education, or a closely related field and at least two years of experience teaching children in a child care, pre‑school, or group setting supporting curricular activities and environmental design, developmental assessments, relationships with families, and ensuring health, wellness, safety.
- OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of experience as described above.
- OR one year of experience as an Early Childhood Educator I in Nevada State service.
- OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Early Childhood or a related field and at least two years of experience in an early childhood setting.
- OR combination of education and experience.
Grade 29 Step 1: $50,153.76.
