The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for a 9-month, non-tenure track Lecturer, or Assistant Professor-in-Residence position in Cybersecurity with expertise in Artificial Intelligence beginning July 1, 2027.

The successful candidate will primarily teach undergraduate and graduate courses within UNLV's cybersecurity programs while helping expand the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) concepts, tools, and applications throughout the cybersecurity curriculum. The standard teaching load for this position is four courses (12 credits) per semester during the academic year. Summer teaching opportunities may be available for additional compensation.

Primary responsibilities include teaching cybersecurity courses; developing and updating curriculum; mentoring and advising students; supporting program assessment and accreditation activities; and participating in departmental, college, and university service. The successful candidate will be expected to incorporate contemporary AI technologies and methodologies into cybersecurity education and help prepare students to operate effectively in an increasingly AI-enabled security landscape.

Candidates should possess expertise in machine learning, generative AI, large language models (LLMs), agentic AI, CyberAIOps, Secure AI systems, data analytics, or related areas, with an interest in applying these technologies to cybersecurity education and practice. Areas of instructional contribution may include AI-assisted cyber defense, security analytics, threat detection, cyber threat intelligence, secure AI systems, adversarial machine learning, AI governance, responsible AI, or other emerging intersections of AI and cybersecurity.

This position is housed within the Department of Applied and Interdisciplinary Engineering, which prepares students for engineering and technology careers through hands-on, experiential learning programs developed in close partnership with industry. The department offers innovative, workforce-focused programs spanning construction management, information technology, cybersecurity, mechatronics, and the world's first ABET-accredited entertainment engineering program. A nimble and interdisciplinary culture enables the department to rapidly respond to workforce needs while maintaining a strong commitment to student success.

The successful candidate will contribute to the continued growth of UNLV's cybersecurity programs and support strategic initiatives related to the National Security Agency's National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity program, including emerging efforts associated with Cyber AI education, workforce development, and curriculum innovation.
