About the Role

As the Assistant Principal at Southern Highlands Preparatory School, you will partner with the Head of School and/or Principal to support the academic program and daily operation of our K–8 campus. You will help develop teachers, support students, strengthen family relationships, and maintain a safe, organized, and academically rigorous school environment.

This position is ideal for an experienced educator and collaborative leader who can balance instructional leadership, employee development, student support, and campus operations while keeping students at the center of every decision.

You will also:

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the school’s curriculum and instructional practices.
  • Observe classroom instruction and provide teachers with constructive coaching and feedback.
  • Use student achievement data to support instructional planning, interventions, and school wide improvement.
  • Counsel and guide students regarding academic, behavioral, and personal concerns.
  • Assist with standardized testing, student assessments, accreditation, and other academic initiatives.
  • Lead, supervise, and develop assigned teachers and campus employees.
  • Support employee recruitment, onboarding, performance management, professional development, and retention.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming campus environment.
  • Support daily campus operations, scheduling, staffing coverage, and implementation of school policies.
  • Build strong relationships with students, families, employees, and community partners.
  • Address student, family, and employee concerns with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
  • Partner with school leadership on enrollment, family engagement, campus events, and operational priorities.
  • Serve as the acting school leader in the absence of the Head of School and/or Principal.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support students and campus operations.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, educational leadership, or a related field required.
  • Experience in school leadership, education administration, or a comparable supervisory role.
  • Minimum of one year of teaching experience required.
  • Experience coaching, supervising, or developing teachers and school employees.
  • Knowledge of K–8 instructional practices, student assessment, and school operations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to build productive relationships with students, families, and employees.
  • High degree of integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Ability to meet applicable state and accreditation requirements.
  • Ability to pass state and federal background checks.
  • Must be able to work in person at the school campus.
