Position: Program Facilitator II  (Harvey Dondero Elementary School)

Position Summary The Program Facilitator II oversees the daily operations of the Books & Buddies' Mentor Center located inside the school.

The Books and Buddies program is a multi-generational mentoring program developed to improve the literacy skills of underserved children by partnering with volunteer mentors acting as reading companions. Working together, the Program Facilitator, the volunteer, and the student focus on improving the child's confidence, literacy skills, love of reading and building their home library. Books & Buddies mentors provide the much-needed individualized attention that is not readily available within the classroom or s part-time position offers up to 24 hours per week, scheduled over four weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday in Henderson, Las Vegas and North Las Vegas, Nevada.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities Create and maintain a clean and engaging space for mentors and buddies

Oversee the organization, display, and utilization of all literacy materials and books at the center site Track, record, and report program/mentor data required for the center site Serve as a liaison with school site personnel (teachers and/or staff)
Build and maintain ongoing relationships with volunteer mentors including but not limited to providing guidance, retention, and recruitment

Follow all school site policies and procedures

Administer pre- and post-assessment for children participating

Assist in the on-site training, managing, and guiding of mentors

Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the Program Management team that are related to the fundamental aspects of the Program Facilitator II position

Education and/or Experience Requirements College degree required; an associate degree or higher

Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with elementary-aged children preferred

Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience preferred General Requirements Basic knowledge of and experience working with literacy development for elementary-aged children

Ability to reflect on and evaluate the site program, continually modifying as needed

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel Must possess proficient ability to communicate in English in oral and written formats

Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency

Use of a reliable personal vehicle Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Valid Nevada State Drivers' License, proof of current automobile insurance and automobile registration Personal Characteristics Below are some of the qualities a Program Facilitator will exhibit:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to excessive heat and wet and/or humid outside conditions. Due to working in the office, warehouse, and/or school setting, the noise level in the environment is moderate to high.
