Assistant Professor, Political Science, Comparative Global South
The Department of Political Science at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for one full-time, nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Comparative Politics, to commence Fall 2027. We seek candidates who specialize in topics related to the Global South or developing countries.
Strong candidates will have the potential for excellence in both research and teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Comparative Politics, engage in research leading to peer-reviewed scholarly publications, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and provide service at the department, college, and university levels. Demonstrated ability to contribute to the department's course offerings in political methodology, at the undergraduate or graduate level, is desirable.
Potential to obtain external research funding will be considered a plus.
The department is interested in candidates whose research, teaching, or service experience has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to creating an inclusive environment in higher education. The department offers BA, MA, and PhD degrees in Political Science.
Minimum qualifications include an earned doctorate in Political Science or a closely related field from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date. Candidate must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred qualifications include some teaching experience, evidence of research productivity, and the ability to develop a research agenda resulting in publications in high-quality outlets.
