Academic Advisor, UNLV Student Academic Success

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for an Academic Advisor to provide comprehensive academic advising and career/major exploration services to all UNLV students, including those in the Exploring major, pre-professional students, non-degree-seeking students, and students in majors requiring additional support. The advisor will operate independently with sound judgment, providing accurate student-centered guidance and promoting retention, progression, and timely degree completion.

• Conduct one-on-one advising appointments in person, by phone, email, and via video conferencing.
• Provide on-call advising support across multiple advising centers.
• Maintain current knowledge of UNLV majors, minors, certificates, and microcredentials.
• Assist students in clarifying academic goals, selecting majors, and making informed decisions.
• Initiate proactive outreach and support student success initiatives.
• Stay current on curriculum, policies, and procedures, and identify solutions to improve processes.
• Collaborate with advising leadership and campus colleagues to ensure consistent advising practices.
• Work with Student Success leadership to support enrollment growth and equitable student success.
• Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by Student Success leadership.

• Minimum:
  Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution and one year of experience.
• Preferred:
  Strong presentation and communication skills, ability to engage diverse student populations, faculty, and campus partners.
• Experience working with pre-professional and exploring students, including guidance in academic planning, career exploration, and goal development.
