Job Description

The Department of Computer Science at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for a full‑time Assistant Professor–In‑Residence position commencing Fall 2026. Responsibilities may include teaching, advising and mentoring students, course development, and engaging in service activities at the department, college, university, and community levels. The position is housed within the Department of Computer Science in the Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering.

The Department of Computer Science is one of the fastest growing departments at UNLV.

In addition, the position requires participation in advising undergraduate students, in the development of courses and curriculum, in projects/lab supervision and management, in service by participation in shared governance, and in grant writing for education, interdisciplinary and teaching‑focused grants.

Responsibilities
  • Teach courses in Computer Science, with a preference for courses in Programming Languages and Compiler Construction.
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Develop and update curricula and course materials.
  • Supervise projects/labs and manage lab resources.
  • Participate in shared governance activities at the department, college, university, and community levels.
  • Write and pursue education‑focused grant proposals.
  • Engage in services to support diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph. D. in Computer Science from an accredited institution recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
  • Experience teaching at an “R1 Doctoral University – Very High Research Activity” institution.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching courses in Programming Languages and Compiler Construction.
