Job Description Assistant Professor, History, Indigenous North America [R0153365] ROLE of the POSITIONThe successful candidate will teach existing Indigenous/American Indian/Native American/First Nations history courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level and propose new courses in their areas of specialization that will expand our curriculum. We especially welcome candidates whose research and teaching has a geographic focus on the North American West. UNLV is situated on the traditional homelands of the Nuwu (Southern Paiute people), and we value knowledge of the Indigenous nations that have stewarded these lands from time immemorial, including the Las Vegas Band of Paiutes and the Moapa Band of Paiutes.
UNLV is a member of the Newberry Consortium of American Indian Studies (NCAIS). We encourage applications from candidates with robust scholarly research and publication agendas who are also interested in community engagement.
- This position requires a Ph.D., in History or related interdisciplinary fields from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
- Candidates who are in ABD status will be considered.
- Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
Candidate must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
