Position Information
This Transfer PAN is to establish a ranked eligibility list which will be in effect for 12 months from the date of the interview.
Position DescriptionDevelop annual training schedules; coordinate classes and instructors; revise and coordinate training programs throughout the department and other law enforcement and commercial organizations; confirm instructor availability; set up classrooms; maintain and update training records, lesson plans, and instructor qualification applications; instruct training classes as assigned; coordinate training programs with private consulting firms, when required; work with operating systems such as ATLAS, Power BI, Microsoft Office and communicate with NV POST.

Minimum Qualifications- Must have two years of experience as a Police Officer II with the LVMPD as of the closing date of this posting and be currently classed as such.
- Must have completed LVMPD Basic Instructor Development Course or a recognized equivalent.
Additionally, to be application and transfer eligible:
- All required tactical training shall already be complete for the current calendar year or completed in the previous calendar year. Previously approved training exemptions - such as FMLA, light duty, and military leave - will be considered.
- Be an active instructor with the LVMPD.
- Have authored a lesson plan and taught non-tactical classes within the last twelve months.
- Have some college education.
- Have been DTI-certified.
- Have been AFTTU instructor certified.
- Have been MACTAC instructor certified.
- Have been CIT-Certified.
- Be up to date with their annual physical.
- Be part of the LVMPD Recruit Mentorship Program.
- Have no record of being sustained on a preventable, at-fault vehicle collision by the Vehicle Collision Board within one year from the date of the first exam. This date is calculated from the date of the collision to the first exam.
Candidates whose Personnel files include major discipline within three years, based on the purge date, from the date of the first test instrument (or anticipated date of transfer, when there is no test instrument), will be automatically disqualified.
Candidates whose Personnel files include minor discipline or a disciplinary transfer within one year, based on the purge date, from the date of the first test instrument (or anticipated date of transfer, when there is no test instrument), will be automatically disqualified.
Personnel files for any candidates whose discipline is not automatically disqualifying above will be reviewed by the Division Commander of the division requesting the transfer Personnel Action Notice. The candidate will be removed from the process if the Division Commander determines the candidate is not currently suitable for the assignment based on recency, frequency, severity of the discipline, or the facts underlying the discipline being performance or conduct related.
Upon notification, candidates disqualified from a transfer process by a Division Commander for discipline may request to meet with the Division Commander within 15 days to discuss an explanation of the disqualification.
Candidates with a rating of "does not meet standards" on their most recent performance evaluation contained in the Personnel file will be automatically disqualified during the screening process before the first test instrument (or anticipated date of transfer, when there is no test instrument).
Candidates who are allowed to participate in the transfer process that includes an oral board will have the discipline removed from their Personnel files, and discipline will not be evaluated by the oral board raters.
