Under direct supervision, prepare detailed CAD drawings for construction projects, create and coordinate 3D model for HVAC systems.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare detailed Construction Field Install drawings (Using Fabrication Parts), models, and layouts of HVAC piping systems using CAD/BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, etc.).
- Coordinate piping layouts with structural, architectural, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection trades to avoid conflicts.
- Review contract documents, mechanical plans, and specifications to confirm compliance.
- Generate spool drawings and fabrication sheets for prefabrication and field installation.
- Assist with material take-offs and bill of materials for procurement using Reports in Auto Desk Revit.
- Ensure that all drawings meet company standards, local codes, and project requirements.
- Collaborate with field supervisors and foremen to resolve design or installation issues.
- Update and maintain project documentation, revisions, and drawing logs.
- Participate in project coordination meetings and provide input on constructability.
- Support the fabrication shop by providing accurate, timely, and clear detailing information.
- Experience:
2–5 years of pipe detailing, CAD drafting, or related HVAC construction experience. - Education:
Technical degree, trade school certification, or equivalent field experience preferred. - Software
Skills:
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and Microsoft Office; familiarity with Bluebeam preferred. - Knowledge:
Strong understanding of HVAC piping systems, fittings, valves, supports, and general construction practices. - Ability to read and interpret mechanical, architectural, and structural drawings.
- Knowledge of SMACNA, ASHRAE, and local code requirements a plus.
- Installation/Field experience is not required but highly preferred.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Effective communication with project managers, engineers, and field staff.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Team‑oriented with a focus on collaboration and accountability.
Office and fabrication shop environment with occasional site visits.
