Plans Examiner I​/Ii

The Clark County Building Department is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Plans Examiner I/II position. As a member of the team, you will review building and development plans for compliance with building, electrical, mechanical and plumbing codes and regulations. This position may focus on commercial plan reviews within one or more of the following disciplines: architectural, mechanical, electrical, or plumbing.

This role could also focus on residential plan review including all plan review disciplines.

PLEASE NOTE: The Clark County Building Department supports employee development by providing training and covering approved, job‑related certification and examination costs, including ICC certifications required for successful performance of the position and career advancement, in accordance with County policy.

Plans Examiner I: $32.77 - $48.43 Hourly

Plans Examiner II: $35.38 - $52.32 Hourly

The Plans Examiner I is a training underfill position; upon successful completion of the training program the successful candidate will be non‑competitively promoted to Plans Examiner II.

Plans Examiner I - Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Building Technology, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning, or other field related to the work. Professional level experience and/or education that has provided the skills and knowledge necessary to perform all job functions at this level may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis.

Plans Examiner II - In addition to the above, minimum of one (1) year of full‑time professional experience in a combination of residential, commercial, zoning and/or industrial plans examination.

Must possess a valid Nevada Class C Driver’s License at time of appointment. Within one (1) year of hire date, must possess an I.C.C. or other nationally recognized Plans Examiner certificate.
