Field Engineer

We’re looking for a Data Centre Engineer to be the technical authority on site at a client data centre. You’ll lead from the front, resolving high‑impact issues, driving engineering best practice, and elevating the capability of those around you.

This is a role for someone who thrives in live environments, takes ownership end‑to‑end, and sets the standard for service delivery

What you’ll be doing

• Act as the on‑site technical lead, owning faults through to resolution
• Deliver first‑line maintenance and advanced fault diagnosis across Indigo’s customer base
• Install, commission and support telecoms infrastructure in project and live service environments
• Ensure SLAs, KPIs, H&S and quality standards are consistently met
• Carry out structured cabling, rack & stack, fibre and copper installation and testing
• Perform network commissioning and diagnostics using OTDR, Ethernet and OSA testing
• Manage site documentation, RAMS, quality audits and improvement actions
• Participate in an out‑of‑hours on‑call rota
• Represent Indigo Telecom Group professionally at all times

What you’ll bring

Essential experience and capability:

• Extensive, hands‑on experience building telecoms and data centre infrastructure from design to sign‑off
• Proven network commissioning expertise with strong fault‑finding and diagnostic skills
• Advanced knowledge of:
• Optical & transmission systems (PDH, SDH, DWDM)
• Structured cabling and fibre infrastructures
• AC/DC power systems, BMS and support systems
• Practical experience with Ciena, Infinera, Nokia, Juniper and Cisco
• Confident customer‑facing communicator with excellent written and spoken English
• Highly organised with strong documentation and reporting skills?
