Lead Consultant – Fire and Life Safety Engineer (Las Vegas, NV)
WSP is seeking an experienced Lead Consultant in Fire and Life Safety Engineering to join our team in Las Vegas. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and managing fire protection and life safety systems for a variety of commercial, institutional, and industrial projects.
Responsibilities- Interpret building, life safety, and fire code requirements, including ICC and NFPA codes (IBC, NFPA 101).
- Review architectural drawings for compliance with building and fire code requirements.
- Negotiate with authorities having jurisdiction on fire safety designs and proposals.
- Produce fire safety strategy documents to support building design decisions.
- Design fire protection and life safety systems such as automatic fire sprinklers, fire detection and alarm systems, smoke management systems, and egress systems.
- Perform fire engineering calculations, including smoke modeling and evacuation analysis from hand calculations to advanced 3D modeling.
- Assist in the commissioning of fire protection and life safety systems.
- Interface directly with clients and coordinate with internal resources.
- Follow quality control review processes for all project documentation.
- Prepare project proposals, budgets, and manage project finances.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to department initiatives.
- Support business development activities for the company.
- 7–10 years of post‑education experience in engineering with prior fire and life safety design experience.
- At least one of the following: a Bachelor of Science in Fire Protection Engineering or a related discipline with a P.E. license, NICET Level III certification with minimum 8 years of fire alarm industry experience.
- Supervisory experience is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in fire protection engineering design applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Expected Salary: $103,000 – $157,000 (based on education, experience, and location).
