Although there is a salary range for this position, salary will be negotiated depending on experience.
Plans, directs and reviews the work of assigned staff on a project or team. Performs complex and advanced professional level transportation engineering duties in support of construction, transportation technology deployments, plans, studies and project management activities. Supervises and evaluates the performance of assigned staff.

Education and Work ExperienceEquivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a closely related field and five (5) years of demonstrated professional engineering experience; and two (2) years in a supervisory role, preferably within the last twenty-four (24) months.
Licensing and CertificationMust possess and maintain a valid Professional Engineer (PE) license from the State of Nevada. Must possess and maintain a valid Class C Driver’s License at time of application.

Physical ability to perform office and related work, including operating computers and office machinery; stamina to sit for extended periods of time; strength to lift and maneuver materials weighing up to 25 pounds; vision to read printed materials; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Coordinates and administers various engineering programs and projects as assigned; meets with staff to identify and resolve problems. Prioritizes and assigns work activities, projects, resources, and programs; monitors workflow; reviews and evaluates work products, methods and procedures. Oversees ongoing programs and special projects assigned by division manager, monitors program or project performance and ensures adequate resource allocation and usage. Maintains accurate records;
prepares various reports to track program/project performance and ensure compliance with engineering standards and applicable city, county, and state laws, statutes, codes, and regulations. Oversees and participates in the review and management of a variety of contracts, studies, plans, drawings, specifications, maps, and related documents and contracts for projects according to engineering standards and applicable city, county, and state laws, statutes, codes, and regulations, proposes and negotiates project changes;
provides revisions or conditions of approval if necessary. Participates in the procurement process, including researching materials, equipment, and vendors, and leading preparation of project cost, scope of work and specifications; participates in contract negotiation, preparation and administration; assists in the coordination and review of consultants' planning and design work. Manages consultant, contractor, and vendor contracts to ensure compliance with project scope of work, budget and schedule, and assesses completeness of work.
Ensures proper permitting. Oversees transportation construction and transportation technology deployments; interfaces with other agencies, interest groups, and the public to obtain input, garner support, and coordinate efforts. Represents the RTC in meetings with groups or individuals; answers inquiries and provides information/assistance as required. Participates in professional development sessions or seminars; stays current on trends, innovations, and legal developments in the engineering field.
Operates a variety of office equipment, to include computers and associated software. Leads and conducts a variety of assigned analysis, models, scenarios, and special projects as assigned by upper management. Participates in staffing and employee relations related activities for assigned staff and ensures adherence to RTC’s diversity initiatives in all aspects. Oversees safety and security responsibilities for areas assigned and ensures that direct reports are trained on safety and security procedures, fully compliant with procedures, and held accountable for breaches in safety and security protocol.
