Position OverviewLead and Senior Mechanical Engineer – HVAC Design at Henderson Engineers. Contribute expertise across six market sectors:
Venue, Community, Grocery & Distribution, Health, Retail, and Business. Work closely with Henderson Building Solutions to deliver a client experience unlike any other in the industry. For details on the sectors, visit:
- Proactively advise and mentor less experienced designers and engineers, providing oversight and technical guidance.
- Take responsibility for the success of those under direct supervision.
- Design advanced building systems, prepare design documents, and perform engineering calculations in coordination with project teams and multiple disciplines. Mentor and lead design staff, sometimes directly supervising others.
- Lead project and design efforts from concept design through completion.
- Produce solutions to complex engineering problems and design challenges through direct involvement or in an advisory capacity.
- Ensure that drawings, specifications, reports, and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.
- Participate in the development of tools, resources, and company practices.
- Implement and reinforce design and engineering standards at the team or practice level.
- Oversee the quality of projects and designs through the quality review process and regular check‑ins; provide final reviews for projects under purview.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, fire protection, or architectural engineering preferred; 11 years of relevant experience. 13 years of experience without a degree acceptable. PE license counts toward 1 year of direct experience.
- Advanced knowledge and proficiency in engineering design, A&E industry, codes, design guides, and standards for a broad range of practices, projects, and programs.
- Knowledge of earned value, contracts, and construction processes and methods.
- Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu.
- Advanced proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit) and HVAC design software (IESVE, Trane Trace).
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, fire protection, or architectural engineering preferred; 15 years of relevant experience. Degree can be substituted with commensurate experience. PE license counts toward 1 year of direct experience.
- Expert knowledge and proficiency in engineering design, A&E industry, codes, design guides, and standards for a broad range of practices, projects, and programs.
- Working knowledge of earned value, contracts, and construction processes and methods.
- Working knowledge of Bluebeam Revu.
- Advanced proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit) and HVAC design software (IESVE, Trane Trace).
- Professional Engineering (PE) license.
- Completion of FE exam, LEED and/or WELL accreditation.
- Advanced knowledge and proficiency in engineering design, A&E industry, codes, design guides, and standards applicable to a range of practices, projects, or program types.
