We are seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Designer with a minimum of 3 years of industry experience and NICET Level II certification in Fire Alarm Systems. This role is responsible for designing, layout, and coordination of fire alarm systems in compliance with applicable codes and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA 72, NEC, IBC, and local codes
- Prepare detailed shop drawings, layouts, and submittal packages
- Perform device layout, riser diagrams, battery calculations, and voltage drop calculations
- Coordinate designs with project managers, field technicians, engineers, and AHJs
- Review project plans and specifications to ensure system compliance and functionality
- Support permitting and approval processes
- Revise drawings based on redlines, field changes, and AHJ comments
- Maintain project documentation and ensure accuracy of all design deliverables
- Minimum 3 years of fire alarm system design experience
- NICET Level II (or higher) in Fire Alarm Systems required
- Strong knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC, and relevant local building codes
- Proficiency with CAD software (Alarm
CAD or AutoCAD preferred) - Experience with fire alarm manufacturer systems (e.g., Mircom, Potter, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- NICET Level III (a plus)
- Knowledge of low-voltage systems integration (security, access control, etc.)
- Prior experience working with contractors or fire protection companies
