Job Description
This exciting position is located in Las Vegas, Nevada and is part of Lockheed Martin's historic Skunk Works program based in Palmdale, California. Skunk Works is an integral part of Lockheed's Aeronautics business, responsible for advanced system development including conceptual design, rapid prototyping of clean‑sheet solutions, and improvements or derivatives to existing systems. The ideal candidate is an agile, multi‑faceted teammate who loves to solve our customers’ most difficult challenges.
Some of our unclassified projects include the U‑2, SR‑71 Blackbird, F‑22 Raptor, F‑117 Nighthawk, and the F‑35 Lightning II.
As an on‑aircraft Avionics Technician, you will be an integral member of the technical interface team, supporting the on‑site customer. Your duties include resolving issues arising from operations and/or maintenance activities, analyzing and resolving avionic system and subsystem discrepancies experienced in the field, attending debriefings to aid rapid identification of emerging issues, documenting operational and maintenance problems, and operating, servicing, and maintaining support equipment.
You will identify unique operational problems that require technical, procedural, or quality assurance actions, provide training to customer personnel as requested, and manage and track multiple engineering and logistics support activities, providing periodic status to the customer and program management.
- Customer interface experience in a field environment
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing on‑aircraft avionics systems
- Active Top Secret clearance
- 5 years of on‑aircraft avionics troubleshooting and repair background
- Must be willing to travel, work any shift, weekends, and holidays to meet customer requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline is desired
- Experience operating and maintaining support equipment
- Cost, schedule, and quality management supporting MRO activities is desired
- Technical report writing desired
This position requires a government security clearance; you must be a U.S. Citizen. The position requires a Top Secret clearance with a background investigation conducted within the last five years and the ability to pass a polygraph examination.
ScheduleThe work associated with this position is performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility, with a schedule of four 10‑hour days and three days off per week.
