Manufacturing Engineer
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for eliminating waste in the manufacturing process and apply innovative systems to improve company workflows. Manufacturing Engineer will identify delays in production and sources of waste, then use technology and engineering principles to refine the system. Additionally, they adjust production lines and integrate new technology to improve the supply and production chain
Essential Functions:- Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs of new technology or automation in an effort to streamline and improve product development and manufacturing operations.
- Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching and designing testing methods, and conferring with equipment vendors on validation and root cause analysis for new and existing processes/products.
- Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
- Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs.
- Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services.
- Maintains product and process database by writing computer programs and entering data.
- Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.
- Periodic usage of 2D and 3D design software in support of:
- New design/part/product prototyping
- Project cost estimating, scheduling and timeline maintenance
- Machine design
- Tooling, fixture and jig development
- Partners with production leadership to design support tools for training and process improvement. Building visual aids, tools, jigs, etc.
- Engages with Safety function in assessing safety initiatives and conducting incident investigations when processes and equipment are a factor.
- Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
Competencies:
- Technical Knowledge – mechanical, electrical and structural systems. Perform mathematical computations to design specifications and components.
- Leadership – people skills, initiative, staff development and mentoring.
- Problem Solving – troubleshooting issues and facilitate root cause analysis.
- Team Building – develop positive relationships across the organization and platform.
- Communication – strong verbal & written communication skills.
- Education: B.S. Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering preferred, but other engineering disciplines will be considered based on experience.
- Experience: 3-8 years of Engineering experience with a focus on hands-on work in manufacturing or process areas.
- Computer Skills: 3D CAD or CAM, Solid Works & Microsoft Office Suite proficiency required.
