Overview
WSP is initiating a search for Transmission Line & Civil Inspectors in Nevada. This field-based position involves performing transmission line inspections and civil inspections. The role is field-based with work in various field offices across the state of Nevada. Approximately half of the time will be spent in field offices and the other half in the field (transmission line, substation, and telecommunications sites).

- Follow established inspection and QA/QC practices to provide technical assistance and guidance supporting the proper construction, installation, and operation of transmission lines, foundations, structures, access roads, infrastructure, equipment, and associated civil, structural, and electrical systems in accordance with approved utility and project design specifications.
- Act as a field inspection consultant regarding work progress, constructability, and issue resolution; serve as the primary or sole transmission line inspector on assigned projects or assist in overseeing HV/EHV construction inspection activities for projects of moderate scope and complexity.
- Verify load calculations, foundation designs, material quantities, change orders, and contract pay items; interpret and resolve differences related to transmission line plans, profiles, structure details, and construction specifications.
- Monitor project phasing, outage coordination, and contractor work activities to ensure quality control, safety compliance, and adherence to utility and contract requirements; document daily activities, deficiencies, corrective actions, and issues throughout the transmission line construction lifecycle.
- Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work.
- Attend pre-construction, safety, and coordination meetings; respond to technical questions from contractors, utility representatives, and project stakeholders regarding inspection requirements and construction standards.
- Prepare technical inspection reports summarizing findings and conclusions, producing complete and accurate documentation using photographs, sketches, field measurements, calculations, inspection software, spreadsheets, and 2D/3D technical drawings related to HV/EHV transmission line construction.
- Support technical staff, project managers, and contractors with risk identification, safety observations, and constructability assessments, providing input and recommendations for mitigation, corrective action, and resolution of complex transmission line construction issues.
- Assist with work plan development, field coordination, staffing reviews, equipment utilization, and time and cost estimates for transmission line inspection and construction support activities.
- Coordinate with clients, utilities, and contractors to schedule and manage inspection activities across multiple transmission line work fronts.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 9 years of relevant post‑education experience in a related discipline with demonstrated construction inspection experience on electric utility, power delivery, or transmission line projects, including overhead and/or underground transmission
- 5+ years of active field experience; computer skills to fill out daily/weekly reports; photo documentation; working knowledge of Word and Excel
- Well-defined knowledge of construction inspection principles and field inspection practices, including HV/EHV transmission line inspection methods, QA/QC procedures, documentation, and compliance verification
- Strong analytical and technical judgment skills to evaluate construction conditions, safety concerns, quality issues, and compliance risks and make sound field decisions
- Travel requirement is project-location based
- Knowledge of transmission line work, foundations and stringing of conductors, and transmission substations and facilities (preferred)
