Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). ResponsibilitiesThe Remote Sensing Laboratory-Nellis (RSLN) Special Programs group is seeking an outstanding candidate for an Electrical Engineer position supporting various projects that range from R&D-like efforts to production level fabrication. The ideal candidate will work with an agile team of engineers and help bring an innovative mechanical approach to solve challenging problems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design circuitry for systems that meet project needs and requirements.
- Design and develop RF systems and embedded hardware for innovative applications.
- Collaborate with Software Engineers to ensure hardware-software integration.
- Collaborate with Mechanical Engineers to ensure hardware compatibility.
- Develop processes, procedures, and work instructions to ensure project success.
- Ability to design and fabricate custom PCBs using Altium.
- Ability to read and analyze data sheets.
- Ability to test and troubleshoot circuit designs ensuring desired performance.
- Must be able to learn and adapt rapidly to project timelines.
- Develop novel equipment designs within a small agile team setting.
- Work closely within the team to ensure project success from the electrical engineering standpoint.
- Prepare reports and analysis supporting various projects.
- The desired candidate is a person that enjoys problem solving and innovative thinking.
- Perform tasks within time and budget constraints.
- Assists in defining specifications for procurements and initiates purchase requests.
- May monitor work of technicians and other support personnel working on their projects.
- Perform related work as assigned by Supervisor/Manager
Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) required for Civil, Mechanical and Electrical engineering degrees;
- Or, Calculus-based STEM bachelor's degree in engineering
- Or, for Architects, Certification from the National Council or Architectural Registration Board (NCARB)
- Or Professional Engineer license
- Skill building experience must demonstrate either deeper technical specialization or additional cross disciplinary knowledge. Graduate research experience may be recognized.
- Ability to interpret codes and standards within the discipline in which they were hired.
- Excellent communications skills are highly desired.
- Experience with other engineering disciplines is highly desired.
- The primary work location will be based at the Remote Sensing Laboratory at Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas, NV (RSL-N).
- Work schedule for this position will be 4/10's, Monday – Thursday (subject to change).
