Student Intern With City Engineering Division
The City of Las Vegas is accepting resumes for a student intern with the City Engineering Division of the Department of Public Works. Position includes a variety of duties and assignments in Sanitary Sewer Planning, Flood Control, and Environmental Oversight. This is an hourly position where students can work up to an average of 19 hours per week while having flexible work hours to accommodate class schedule.
This position is only available to currently enrolled full time students (sophomore - senior) majoring in civil engineering. Students must attach an unofficial copy of their transcripts and resume to their application. Salary:
Sophomore: $18.57, Junior: $20.09, Senior: $20.89.
Duties and assignments:
- Digitize new collection system facilities and complete attribute quality assurance updates in Geographic Information System (GIS) geodatabases.
- Collect and prepare supporting documents, and stage review software for Land Development project entitlement review meetings.
- Review reports, cost estimates, plans, and specifications on Capital Improvement Projects for City roadway, sewer, flood control, and parks projects.
- Assist in the traffic control, placement, and retrieval of temporary flow monitors. Participate in field investigations.
- Additional duties can include but is not limited to; preparing maps, drafting, filing, running various errands to other City departments or outside agencies, and assisting in other work areas as necessary.
Qualifications:
Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university with a declared major in Engineering. Must participate in an established training program at the city. Must maintain at least a 2.5 G.P.A. at their school. Must be actively enrolled in classes full time. Must be in an undergraduate status. Hard working and career oriented. AutoCAD and/or GIS experience is a plus.
