Job Description

As a General Engineer/Physical Scientist you will:

Serves as a recognized technical authority and advisor to senior Site Office and Program managers and safety professionals on matters pertaining to the safety authorization basis or safety of operations in nuclear and/or non-nuclear hazardous facilities.

Exercises line management responsibility or directly advises authorizing officials in ensuring that a manageable set of technical safety requirements has been created to control analyzed hazards and that safety management programs are sufficient to comply with regulations and support safe operations.

Provides oversight of contractor operations and activities involving operational safety; start-up and restart activities; safety analysis; incident reporting; program evaluation; and performs assessments of the Management and Operating (M&O) Contractor's performance.

Represents the agency in hearings, high level meetings, conferences and special working groups with M&O (Management and Operating) contractor executives and subject matter experts, State and Federal regulators, and oversight entities.
