Education Requirement:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a closely related technical discipline.
TopSkills:
3+ years of hands‑on experience in an electrical product development or laboratory environment, with a strong focus on regulatory compliance for energy storage systems, hybrid power systems, or industrial grid‑tied equipment.
Position Overview Reason for Opening- Kevin is currently overseeing compliance efforts and needs someone to take ownership of that function so he can focus more on R&D and product development.
- The company is expanding its product portfolio in the Energy Storage Systems (ESS), Hybrid Energy, and Power Electronics space.
- This role will support the first model in a new product line, with an expected four additional products launching next year.
- Small, collaborative R&D team consisting of 6 employees:
- 3 Electrical Engineers
- 3 Mechanical Engineers
- Company has been operating for approximately 9 years.
- Team priorities shift frequently based on product development needs.
- Candidate must be comfortable working in a fast‑paced, hands‑on environment.
- Own compliance and certification efforts for ESS and Hybrid Energy products.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for certification and regulatory activities.
- Work directly with certification agencies such as:
- UL
- CSA
- Manage testing, documentation, validation, and certification processes.
- Ensure products meet regulatory and compliance requirements throughout development.
- Partner with the engineering team on product development initiatives.
- Provide feedback and recommendations to improve future product designs based on compliance findings.
- Assist with electrical design activities when needed.
- Exposure to battery systems, inverters, power electronics, and energy storage technologies is beneficial but not required.
- Compliance Engineering experience.
- Experience working with certification bodies such as UL, CSA, Intertek, or similar organizations.
- Strong understanding of compliance testing, validation, certification processes, and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to manage compliance projects from testing through certification.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills within an engineering environment.
- Electrical Engineering background.
- Experience with:
- Battery technology
- Compliance experience is the primary requirement.
- The team is willing to teach the right candidate about the product, technology, and design side of the business.
- Design experience is a plus but not required.
- The ideal candidate will take ownership of compliance while growing into a deeper understanding of the products and industry.
