Job :

Location: Las Vegas, NV, United States

Provides comprehensive civil/structural engineering design services for substation and/or transmission facilities, and to ensure that these facilities are constructed on schedule and within committed resource allocations.

• Develops economical, technically feasible, reliable transmission and substation civil/structural designs with moderate supervision and guidance.
• Provides Civil Engineering expertise to develop plans for grading, foundation, landscaping, off-site improvements, fencing and block walls, substation steel structures and technical drainage studies. Provides complex engineering analysis, route analysis, and calculations for line design, (e.g. structures, foundations, and conductor sag).
• Acquires all necessary grading, building and construction permits for assigned projects.
• Provides accurate cost estimates for use in company budgeting procedures such that cash flow requirements are identified.
• Provides coordination and communication with other departments such that total project schedules and expenditures are maintained in accordance with commitments.
• Provides input for development of detailed project schedules and update project management system to reflect the status of projects assigned.
• Monitors project expenditures, and practice cost control such that project commitments are met.
• Evaluates bids for materials and labor according to engineering specifications, thereby ensuring that the Company will acquire the most cost-effective products and services.
• Provides assistance and guidance to other departments and districts in the solution of non-standard or complex civil/structural design problems.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

• Education and Work Experience Bachelor’s degree in civil or electrical engineering and 2-4 years of related experience.
• Specialized Knowledge and Skills Excellent organization and communication skills. Ability to understand basic project management.
• Equipment and Applications PCs, word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
• Work Environment and Physical Demands General office environment. No special physical demands required.
• Note: Depending on qualifications of applicants, this position may be filled at a lower level.
