Ensures public safety and regulatory compliance by inspecting commercial vehicles, transportation infrastructure, and operational practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct inspections aligned with FMCSR, OSHA, and DOT regulations.

"Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR)" /p>

  • Perform pre‑trip, en‑route, and post‑trip vehicle inspections.
  • Verify Hours of Service, ELD data, permits, and hazardous materials placarding.
  • Support roadways, pavement, and NBIS bridge inspection activities.

"Bridge inspection standards (NBIS)" /p>

  • Document findings using digital reporting systems.
  • Communicate clearly with drivers and the public; apply de‑escalation techniques.
Required Nevada Certifications

These are the standard certifications for DOT‑aligned inspection roles in Nevada:

  • Nevada Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) Inspector Certification
    - Required for commercial motor vehicle enforcement and safety inspections.
  • Nevada DOT Level I-III Inspector Credentials
    - Covers full vehicle, driver, and hazardous materials inspections.
  • Hazardous Materials (Haz Mat) Inspection Endorsement
    - Required for placarding and hazardous materials compliance checks.
  • Hazardous material placarding
  • NBIS Bridge Inspection Certification
    - Required for bridge and structural inspections.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 - Required for safety compliance roles.
  • OSHA safety basics
  • ELD/Hours of Service Verification Training
    - Required for electronic logging device enforcement.
