The Job

The Event Manager – Arenas oversees operations for events hosted at MGM Grand Garden Arena and other MGM Resorts entertainment venues as needed. This role leads event staffing, coordinates closely with internal teams and external partners, and ensures every event delivers an exceptional guest experience while operating efficiently and within budget.

The Day-to-day
  • Manage all event service clients’ requests and work with appropriate arena operational department to ensure requests are competed fully and on time.
  • In conjunction with the Production Manager, advance Arena events/shows (e.g., review concert riders) with clients and communicate event requirements to all departments.
  • Maintain positive communications and serve as a venue resource for clients, up to and including the event day.
  • Participate in weekly Event Meetings, communicating / delegating event specifics to responsible departments.
  • Work closely with the Director of Event Production to ensure shows are managed appropriately.
  • Act as primary point of contact for client services including pre-planning event activities and making recommendations to event clients on optimal operating procedures.
  • Maintain a high level of communication between event clients, all necessary departments, and vendors to ensure a smooth flow from initial production meeting to final load out for all clients.
  • Identify and make recommendations to Arena management team on operational improvements, increased profitability, and efficiencies.
  • Assist in establishing event equipment requirements, including sub rentals, quality control, delivery, pick-up, inventory control, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Manage daily set-up, Labor, Event Timeline sheets accurately and in a timely manner for assigned functions, to reflect all production needs throughout the Arena.
  • Enforces fire and safety codes, stressing safety first to all team members.
  • Manage billing for retail and in-house clients and ensure final payments are completed as scheduled with clients.
  • Ensure that all operational event contractual obligations are met, relative to staging and Event Rider and oversees all operational aspects of events to ensure their smooth operation.
  • Manage Human Resources responsibilities for the specifically assigned areas; create and maintain a work environment that promotes client service, teamwork, performance feedback, individual recognition, mutual respect, and employee/vendor satisfaction. In addition, ensuring quality and proper training, of our third-party vendors and succession planning processes that encompass the company's diversity commitment.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Ability to work varied schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required
  • 2+ years of prior relevant professional experience in event management and/or arena production operations required
  • Experience with the functions, operations, and equipment of a multi-purpose entertainment complex required
  • Experience managing compliance with Federal and State OSHA regulations required
  • Experience with safety practices, including first aid and all applicable safety standards for public facilities required
  • Forklift operation experience required
