- Monitor designated streets, lots, garages, public areas, and/or campus to ensure compliance with parking policies.
- Provide customer service by answering questions about directions, events, building locations, and parking policies.
- Issue citations and warnings for non‑compliance using a handheld computer or manual tickets; impound, boot, or relocate vehicles as directed.
- Exercise proper judgment, tact, and diplomacy in dealing with people, working alone.
- Assist maintenance staff with duties related to parking equipment and facility upkeep, including inspecting and assessing lots, painting, cleaning, repairing parking meters and pay‑and‑display machines, installing signs, sign posts, and meter posts.
- Assist in the collection and security of all monies received through parking meters, multi‑space machines, pay‑on‑foot technology, and other revenue‑generating means.
- Assist event staff with parking activities for events, including setting up, traffic control, payment receipt, and lot usage control.
- Assist office staff with permit‑sale activities during peak seasons, including data entry, collating mailings, and frontline customer service.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Enforcement officers are not sworn police and have no arresting authority.
- Knowledge of the geography of the area being enforced.
- Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions.
- Ability to use a handheld computer.
- Ability to operate a motorized vehicle or bicycle.
- Ability to understand and apply parking regulations.
- Ability to interact with others in a courteous and tactful manner.
- Ability to walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Must be 18 years of age or older at time of hire.
Special shift requirements will vary depending on location hiring needs. Availability to work 2nd shift, 3rd shift, and/or weekends may be required.
License RequirementA valid state‑issued driver’s license with a current address and an acceptable driving record is required only if the employee will drive a company vehicle or operate a vehicle for company business.
Physical DemandsRegular standing, walking, hand use, talking, and listening. Exposure to outside weather conditions including snowstorms and extreme heat. Employees work in and around potentially dangerous traffic situations and must remain safety conscious at all times.
