The On-Call Event Staff Runner provides operational, hospitality, and logistical support for artists, touring productions, and Programming Department activities to help ensure the successful execution of performances and events at The Smith Center. Reporting to the Artist Services Manager and in coordination with tour management, this position assists with artist and show personnel transportation, time-sensitive errands, delivery and pickup of event-related materials and supplies, and other operational support before, during, and after performances and events.

The On-Call Event Staff Runner provides operational, hospitality, and logistical support for artists, touring productions, and Programming Department activities to help ensure the successful execution of performances and events at The Smith Center. Reporting to the Artist Services Manager and in coordination with tour management, this position assists with artist and show personnel transportation, time-sensitive errands, delivery and pickup of event-related materials and supplies, and other operational support before, during, and after performances and events.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provide transportation for artists, touring personnel, and other authorized guests to and from airports, hotels, venues, and other approved destinations in a safe, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Support the Programming Leadership team with event logistics before, during, and after performances and special events to help ensure smooth day-of-event operations.
  • Complete time-sensitive errands, including the pickup and delivery of artist hospitality items, catering, production supplies, equipment, documents, and other event-related materials.
  • Assist with artist hospitality and backstage support by helping prepare dressing rooms, delivering requested items, and responding to artist, tour management, and event personnel needs as directed.
  • Coordinate assigned activities with the Artist Services Manager, tour management, and other internal departments to support operational and event requirements.
  • Safely operate standard passenger vehicles, passenger vans, Sprinter vans, or similar vehicles while complying with all applicable traffic laws and The Smith Center's vehicle safety procedures.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, organization, fueling, and overall readiness of assigned vehicles and assist in maintaining organized backstage, hospitality, and storage areas.
  • Represent The Smith Center in a professional, courteous, and service-oriented manner when interacting with artists, touring personnel, vendors, guests, and fellow team members.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise professionalism and discretion when working with artists, touring productions, and confidential event information.
  • Accurately communicate updates, schedule changes, and operational information to the Artist Services Manager and other designated personnel members to help ensure efficient event execution.
  • Follow established departmental procedures and safety guidelines while performing assigned responsibilities.
  • Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned within the scope of the position to support Programming Department operations and the successful execution of performances and events.
Required Education, And Experience
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in artist services, hospitality, guest services, event operations, transportation, performing arts, live entertainment, hotels, or a related customer service environment preferred.
  • Experience providing exceptional customer service while interacting with guests, artists, performers, touring personnel, or VIP clientele preferred.
