Risk Manager/Analyst, Financial Compliance
About the Role The Risk Control Specialist develops and maintains analytical methodologies to identify, quantify, and evaluate both energy commodity and business-related risks. This role ensures compliance with Sarbanes‑Oxley requirements, evaluates counter party creditworthiness, and contributes to company‑wide risk management processes. Responsibilities span both Energy Risk Control and Business Risk Control, offering broad exposure across the enterprise.
ResponsibilitiesWhat You’ll Do
- Quantify forward price risk, price volatility, and perform value‑at‑risk and stress‑testing analysis.
- Monitor pricing trends and validate financial and risk models.
- Develop and maintain risk management systems; prepare valuations, position reports, and transaction reporting.
- Analyze and report on Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX) controls; prepare agendas, minutes, and monthly reports for senior leadership.
- Conduct credit assessments, assign internal credit ratings, and approve credit for counter parties, customers, and vendors.
- Monitor portfolio‑level credit exposure to ensure compliance with risk policies.
- Design and implement credit risk measurement methods, review credit terms and collateral requirements.
- Oversee collateral management, maintain collateral records, and monitor posted collateral.
- Provide expertise and support to the Risk Committee on business and financial risk issues.
- Deliver training and guidance on risk management practices across the company.
- Ensure all compliance requirements, policies, codes, and regulations are followed.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5 years of related experience.
- 9 years of directly related experience in lieu of a degree.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of risk management, credit assessment, quantitative analysis, and analytical tools.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively across departments.
Tools & Technology
- Experience with analytical and risk-modeling tools.
Proficiency in PCs, spreadsheets, database systems and document processing software.
Work Environment General office environment. No physical demands. We are an office‑first work environment due to the nature of our business, and this position requires working in‑office.
