Financial Consultant, Financial Advisor
This position will provide personal financial services at assigned military installations. The role involves full breadth of personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families, including one‑on‑one counseling, briefings, presentations, and referrals. The counselor works closely with installation personnel and military branch points of contact to ensure program scope and needs are met.
Responsibilities- Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and families.
- Assist service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences.
- Develop and distribute informational financial materials.
- Coordinate, publicize, and deliver a wide variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops covering the military lifecycle, e.g., arrival at first duty station, pre/post‑deployment, and events outlined in DoDI 1322.34.
- Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
- Use virtual counseling or electronic communications (web‑based chat, video) in accordance with the OSD FINRED Program office.
- Manage duty‑to‑warn situations per DoD protocol.
- Communicate with leadership; participate in individual and group supervision and share trends and issues.
- Participate in regular in‑services, training, quality‑improvement committees or other contract activities.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications- Bachelor's degree required.
- Associate degree plus four years of experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
- High school diploma plus six years of experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
- Three or more years of financial counseling experience.
- U.S. citizenship and fluent English required.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish if contract requires.
- Can obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
- Must pass the Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
- Certification:
Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
