Job Description

Budget and Financial Systems Analyst, Business Affairs [R0152027] is a position that provides analytical and technical expertise to support the management of UNLV's budgeting and financial planning systems. The analyst conducts financial analyses, designs process optimization initiatives, performs system administration duties, and serves as a subject‑matter expert for Adaptive Planning and Workday. Responsibilities include preparing, reviewing, and analyzing annual and multi‑year budgets for assigned divisions, colleges, or units, performing trend, variance, and modeling analyses, aligning resource allocations, advising on budget planning and reconciliation practices, identifying process improvements, and ensuring compliance with institutional and NSHE policies.

Responsibilities
  • Provide analytical and technical expertise for budgeting and financial planning systems.
  • Conduct financial analyses and design processes to optimize system usage and emerging AI tools.
  • Perform system administration duties and serve as a subject‑matter expert for Adaptive Planning and Workday.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze annual and multi‑year budgets for assigned divisions, colleges, or units.
  • Perform trend, variance, and modeling analyses to inform decision‑making.
  • Align resource allocations, advise on budget planning and reconciliation practices, and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional and NSHE policies.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • 1‑3 years of professional experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or systems administration, preferably in higher education or the public sector.
  • Advanced knowledge of budgeting principles and financial modeling.
  • Expertise with Workday, Adaptive Planning or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and data visualization skills.
  • Proficiency with Excel and data‑analysis tools.
  • Ability to work independently under broad direction and exercise judgment in developing and implementing financial analysis and system solutions.
Salary

The salary range is $64,187 to $71,143, or commensurate with the labor market.
