Senior Financial Analyst

About the Position

The Clark County Finance Department is seeking qualified candidates for the Senior Financial Analyst position in the Budget and Financial Planning Division. The role supports various county functions and requires experience in financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting. This position may fill multiple vacancies over the next six months.

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or related field with four (4) years of full-time professional experience in budget development and administration.
• Experience in a public agency setting and/or an advanced degree is desirable.
• Clear documentation of education and work experience in the application.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation.

• Provides lead direction, training, and work review to varied levels of financial and accounting staff.
• Instructs staff in work procedures; provides input into selection decisions, performance evaluations and disciplinary matters.
• Coordinates the development of multiple and complex annual budgets for assigned departments and functions.
• Prepares historical information, revenue projections, and related data for internal use and distribution to County management.
• Reviews and analyzes departmental budgetary requests for accuracy, reasonableness and adherence to policy.
• Compiles budget documents including performance measures and fiscal impacts for inclusion in preliminary and final budgets.
• Receives, investigates and resolves questions regarding the County's self-funded liability program.
• Coordinates actuarial studies and implements results for accounting standards and legal requirements.
• Monitors departmental budgets to ensure expenditures are within guidelines and initiates budget adjustments when required.
• Reviews Board resolutions for budgetary impact; makes recommendations and incorporates modifications with departmental concurrence.
• Prepares cost analyses, including projections and recovery alternatives; follows up to ensure adherence to schedules.
• Confers with staff to review alternatives and implement problem resolution.
• Performs operational, planning and management studies; collects and analyzes data, evaluates alternatives and prepares reports.
• Participates in budgetary hearings and makes presentations before committees and the Board of Commissioners.
• Contributes to unit efficiency and effectiveness by offering suggestions and participating as a team member.
• Installs and maintains automated budgetary, financial control and reporting systems; instructs others in their use.
• Maintains accurate records and files.
• Uses standard office equipment; may operate a vehicle to visit work sites and attend meetings.
