Mortgage Loan Originator

We are seeking an experienced Mortgage Loan Originator to generate and manage mortgage loan business from application through closing. The Mortgage Loan Originator will develop relationships with borrowers and referral partners, guide clients through residential mortgage options, ensure compliant loan processing, and meet production goals.

This role requires strong loan origination expertise, excellent communication, and a focus on customer service and business development.

Key Responsibilities

• Originate and manage a pipeline of residential mortgage loans from lead generation through closing, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
• Pre-qualify borrowers, take complete loan applications, analyze credit and income, and recommend loan products that meet borrower needs and program guidelines.
• Provide clear guidance to borrowers on conventional, residential mortgage programs and applicable VHAA or other available product options.
• Work closely with processors, underwriters, and closing teams to resolve requirements and obtain timely loan approvals.
• Build and maintain referral relationships with real estate agents, builders, financial advisors, and other centers of influence to drive new business.
• Ensure all loan file documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with federal and state regulations and company policies.
• Maintain accurate pipeline and production reporting in the loan origination system and CRM.
• Meet or exceed individual production and business development targets while delivering a high standard of customer service.
• Participate in community outreach, homebuyer seminars, and networking events to promote mortgage products and expand the referral network.
• Stay current on mortgage products, market conditions, underwriting guidelines, and regulatory changes, and share knowledge with colleagues and borrowers.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in Loan Origination and Mortgage lending (residential focus preferred).
• Active NMLS license or ability to obtain NMLS licensing (nice-to-have).
• Strong knowledge of conventional and residential mortgage products; familiarity with VHAA and other government or specialized programs is a plus.
• Demonstrated success in business development, lead generation, and building referral partnerships.
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in mortgage origination, or equivalent production history.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills with the ability to explain complex loan options clearly.
• Solid understanding of credit, income, assets, and documentation requirements for loan underwriting.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple loans and deadlines.
• Proficiency with loan origination systems (LOS), CRM tools, and Microsoft Office.
• High school diploma or GED required; bachelors degree in finance, business, or related field preferred.
• Ability to work evenings or weekends as needed for client appointments and events.
