Overview
The Nevada Public Works Division is hiring for a Deputy Administrator, Building Official in Las Vegas or Carson City. The position requires experience in building codes, construction, blueprints, analytical skills (problem-solving, judgment), and effective communication (reports, public interaction), along with strong ethics. The role is supported by relevant certifications such as ICC and practical trade experience. Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree, significant experience (5–10+ years) in construction/inspection/architecture/engineering, and ICC certifications (International Code Council).
The Building Official must maintain all relevant licenses and certifications for the duration of employment. Strong leadership and communication skills are required for overseeing code compliance.
The Building Official manages staff (such as inspectors), handles applications, and responds to inquiries. The role requires on-site verification of work, resolving issues with contractors, documenting findings, and balancing public service with strict code adherence.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree
- Significant experience (5–10+ years) in construction/inspection/architecture/engineering
