Position Summary

Performs diagnostic exams on patients in the specialized areas of mammography, computed tomography, and special procedures. Uses specialized equipment, techniques and/or computer programs to perform the work.

Education/Experience

Successful completion of an AMA approved Radiologic Technology Program.

Licensing/Certification Requirements

State of Nevada License in Radiology. Valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Registered in Radiography;
National Certification in specialty area such as Computed Tomography or Angiography. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accepted by the American Heart Association (AHA).

Preferences
  • Valid State of Nevada License in Radiology;
  • Valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Registered in Computed Tomography;
  • Previous 3 (three) years experience in performing CT exams in a Trauma setting;
  • CT interventional exams on patients;
Knowledge

Procedures and protocols associated with area of assignment; specialized equipment used in area of assignment; radiography protocols and procedures; quality assurance and quality control measures; personal computers; anatomy and physiology of the human body; contrast application and contrast reaction symptoms; venipuncture techniques; department and hospital safety practices and principles; patient rights; age specific patient care practices; infection control policies and practices;

handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.

Skill

Utilizing computers and specialized application software for scanning and diagnostic evaluation; utilizing specialized equipment and techniques for diagnostic evaluation; applying aseptic techniques; positioning patients properly to maximize results; communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.
