Overview

The Las Vegas Residential - Renewal - and Rehabilitation Program Coordinator (LVR3) is responsible for the direct clinical and administrative supervision of both licensed and unlicensed mental health treatment coordinators and admissions coordinators for LVR
3. Incumbent is responsible for all aspects of functioning within their service.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee a 40-bed Domiciliary Substance Use Disorder (DOM SUD) program locally known as LVR3 that provides integrated, interdisciplinary residential rehabilitation to eligible veterans.
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and effectively utilize all structures and relationships within and relating to LVR3 as outlined in applicable guidelines and directives.
  • Provide direct administrative supervision of clinical and administrative staff, trainees, and volunteers, including staff psychologists, senior social workers, and program support assistants.
  • Provide clinical supervisory oversight of mental health treatment coordinators, admissions coordinators, trainees, and volunteers assigned to DOM-SUD.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the 40-bed LVR3 DOM-SUD and ensure efficient program operation.
  • Develop and implement program policies and procedures in compliance with VHA Handbook 1162 and other directives and ensure compliance with accrediting bodies and monitoring entities.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and service chiefs of staff who do not directly report to the LVR3 Program Coordinator.
  • Maintain broad program management responsibilities including clinical, training, and administrative programs; monitor outcomes using a data-driven quality assurance process.
  • Serve as liaison for LVR3 with the VA Medical Center, VISN, and VACO.
  • Ensure timely completion of program evaluations and required documents; monitor compliance with accrediting bodies and monitoring entities.
  • Initiate and conduct audits and reports on productivity, clinical utilization, and access to care data.
  • Oversee program operations and evaluations, identify areas for improvement, gather and assess data, develop improvement ideas, and evaluate efficacy of improvement efforts.
  • Participate on VA Medical Center, VISN, and/or national VA committees or task forces as assigned by BHS.
  • Represent the VA Medical Center at professional and community events and committees, as directed by BHS.
  • Work Schedule:

    Full-Time (to be discussed during interview).
Qualifications
  • Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship (non-citizens may be appointed only when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA policy);
    English Language Proficiency; candidates must be proficient in spoken and written English; 38 U.S.C. 7403(f).
  • Education: Master’s degree in social work from a school fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until fully accredited. A doctoral degree may not be substituted for the master’s degree. Verification of the degree is available through CSWE.
  • Licensure: Individuals in the GS-0185 social worker series must be licensed or certified to independently practice social work at the master’s degree level; current state requirements can be found through VA OHRM pages. May qualify under Grandfathering provisions as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation.
  • Grandfathering Provision: Review the standard to determine applicable education and/or licensure requirements; special provisions apply for current VHA employees and temporary appointments as described in the standard.
  • Experience / Education (KSA): Social Worker - Program Coordinator GS-13 requires one year of experience at GS-12 level or equivalent, with advanced practice skills and progressively increasing professional competency. Certification or post-master’s training from a recognized organization or university may be preferred or required depending on the specific position.
  • Licensure / Certification: Individuals assigned as social worker program coordinators must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level and able to supervise licensure.
