Overview
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval - award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy - Education:
Have a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) or the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS) or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) at the time the program was completed - The specialty area of the degree must be consistent with the assignment for which the applicant is employed
- For meeting this requirement, the term "specialty area" refers to the specific specialty areas recognized by the accrediting body, not to job duties
- Currently, APA accredits doctoral programs in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, school psychology, or combinations of two or more of those areas
- PCSAS accredits doctoral programs in psychological clinical science
- CPA accredits doctoral programs in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, clinical neuropsychology, and school psychology
- There are no job assignments in VHA that require the skills of a school psychologist; therefore, an applicant with a degree in school psychology is not eligible for appointment
- OR (2) Have a doctoral degree in any area of psychology and complete a re-specialization program meeting conditions including an APA or CPA accredited internship
- Documentation of completion must be provided via official transcript and/or certificate
- OR (3) Have a doctoral degree awarded between 1951 and 1978 from a regionally-accredited institution with a psychology-related dissertation and an APA- or CPA-accredited internship or acceptable alternative per policy
- Licensure:
Hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level where licensed - Board Certification:
If internship was not APA/CPA accredited, must be board certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology in a specialty area consistent with assignment - Grandfathering Provision:
Applies to current VHA employees in this occupation under the standard - Experience:
At least three years of professional psychology experience, with at least one year at the GS-13 level or equivalent

- Knowledge of evidence-based practices and clinical guidelines, with ability to guide staff

- Ability to analyze problems and implement solutions
Preferred Experience:
Addictions treatment, Leadership/Supervisory Experience, Program Management. For more information, visit VA Qualification Standards. Full performance level is GS-14.
- Direct clinical and administrative supervision of licensed and unlicensed staff within LVR3
- Oversee all aspects of the service, including administrative, clinical, evaluation, research, and training programs
- Provide clinical supervision of staff, trainees, and volunteers; final oversight for the 40-bed LVR3 DOM-SUD
- Develop and implement residential rehabilitation program policies and procedures in accordance with VHA Handbook 1162
- Ensure efficient operation of the LVR3 DOM-SUD residential program
- Manage key clinical, training, or administrative programs and act as liaison with VA Medical Center, VISN, and VACO
- Ensure timely completion of program evaluations and compliance with accrediting bodies
- Participate in VA committees or task forces and represent the Medical Center in professional settings
- Provide a full range of psychotherapeutic interventions and psychological assessments to inform individualized treatment plans
- Consult with medical center staff on patient care issues and serve as a resource for psychological services
- Identify patient problems requiring interdisciplinary referrals and complete clinical documentation timely
- Participate in Performance Improvement activities and uphold HIPAA and related policies
