About the PositionThis role blends clinical expertise with teaching, quality assurance, and research, working closely with residents, fellows, faculty, and clinical staff.
The Medical Physicist plays a key role in ensuring safe and effective use of radiation, optimizing imaging protocols, and supporting both patient care and physician training.
What You’ll Do- Plan and optimize radiation dosimetry to ensure accurate dosing and patient safety
- Monitor radiation exposure for patients and staff and support radiation safety compliance
- Participate in patient diagnosis and treatment through collaboration with radiologists and clinical teams
- Perform equipment acceptance testing, annual testing, and quality assurance activities
- Support shielding calculations, site planning, and technologist QA/QC, including nuclear medicine
- Assist with radiation safety program reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
- Develop, optimize, and research imaging protocols to improve quality and safety
- Teach and present medical physics curriculum for radiology residency didactics
- Collaborate on academic and research projects with residents and faculty
- Master’s degree with specialized training in medical physics, physics, or a related field
- At least three years of experience in diagnostic clinical medical physics
- Board certification through the American Board of Radiology
- Certification through the Medical Dosimetry Certification Board
- Strong knowledge of advanced radiology equipment and imaging software
- Experience with acceptance testing, annual equipment testing, and shielding design
- Familiarity with QA/QC processes in diagnostic imaging and nuclear medicine
- Understanding of federal, state, and accreditation standards related to radiation safety
- Comfort working with both adult and pediatric imaging environments
- Ability to develop and deliver educational content to residents and clinical staff
- Strong presentation and communication skills across multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to safety and quality
