PositionDescription
The Clinical Support Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and supervising a team of clinical support staff, including Medical Assistants and Unit Clerks. This role ensures that the clinical team operates efficiently, provides high-quality patient care, and adheres to all regulatory and organizational standards. The Clinical Support Supervisor plays a key role in coordinating daily operations, improving workflows, and fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
This is an exempt, salaried position.
- Supervises and leads a team of Medical Assistants and Unit Clerks.
- Coordinates staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage and minimize disruptions to patient care.
- Ensures that all clinical support activities comply with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
- Oversees daily clinical and administrative operations, ensuring that patient care is delivered efficiently and effectively.
- Implements and monitors quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and service delivery.
- Provides ongoing coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations to ensure staff development and adherence to job responsibilities.
- Conducts regular audits of clinical and administrative procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance. This includes adequate stocking of supplies in exam rooms, ensuring clinic cleanliness, patient requests, and more.
- Communicates with the immediate supervisor regarding daily operations and procedure changes.
- Conducts meetings and huddles for Medical Assistants and Unit Clerks.
- Oversees the vaccine program and ensures all state requirements are maintained.
- Maintains up-to-date staff assignments and confirms registration with required external systems, including Nevada WebIZ and the Prescription Monitoring Program.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Maintains and enforces policies involving all safety and infection control procedures to include proper use of necessary personal protective equipment.
- Supports and follows through with management team goals.
- Graduate of a Medical Assistant program.
- A minimum of two (2) years’ Medical Assistant experience.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and directions.
- Working knowledge of procedures and techniques involved in administering routine and special treatments to patients.
- Working knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene and basic health and safety precautions applicable for work in a clinic setting.
- Working knowledge of infection control procedures and safety precautions. Age-specific competencies.
- Daily clinic preparation process; preparing charts and reviewing scheduling. Ability to document and communicate pertinent information.
- Clear and professional communication skills when interacting with physicians, team members, families, personnel, and consultants.
- Frequently required to alternate between walking, standing, and reaching throughout the day.
- Frequently uses fine hand coordination and manual dexterity to perform data entry on the computer.
- Occasionally required to stoop, bend, and crouch while assisting patients.
- Occasionally required to lift, push, pull up to 20 lbs. May need to assist patients in a wheelchair and safely support the full weight of a patient when necessary.
